Join our Elevator Support Unit (ESU) in San Diego, CA. This full-time position supports contracted skilled trades work on Weapon Elevators and Aircraft Elevators and their systems on U.S. Navy ships. You will be part of a team dedicated to the physical labor and technical precision required to keep naval assets operational in industrial and shipboard environments.
Your day-to-day will involve performing a variety of skilled trades, maintenance, and technical tasks on aircraft carrier elevators, cargo handling systems, and associated equipment, including vertical stores conveyors. You will work closely with senior employees on specialized assignments, potentially training or assisting other employees and Navy personnel on shipboard systems and day-to-day operations. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and test electrical systems, as well as calibrate and make minor repairs on tools and equipment. You will also be responsible for scheduling, reporting, and briefing customers and senior management.
This role involves significant physical demands, including working on and climbing ladders, working in extreme temperature environments, and operating in confined spaces. You may ride ships at sea for extended periods and work in conditions involving high heat, humidity, noise, and dirt. Travel within and outside the continental United States may be required.
