About the Role
As a Ship Fitter at TREO STAFFING LLC, you will play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of complex metal structures. Your work involves interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints to determine precise material requirements and task sequences. You will be responsible for verifying the conformance of workpieces to specifications, ensuring that every component meets rigorous standards before assembly.
In this position, you will align and fit parts using a variety of tools, including jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, and drift pins. Your day-to-day activities include positioning and welding parts to form complete units or subunits, utilizing jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. You will also be tasked with laying out and examining metal stock, marking reference points, and locating bending and cutting lines while accounting for stock thickness and welding shrinkage.
The role requires physical dexterity and technical precision. You will set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures, and operate fabricating machines to process materials. Tasks may involve lifting or moving materials and finished products using large cranes, straightening warped parts with sledges or straightening presses, and preheating workpieces to make them malleable. Additionally, you will smooth workpiece edges, fix taps, tubes, and valves, and perform wash and cut operations with a torch.
