Accessible Space Inc operates as a non-profit organization headquartered in St Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to providing housing with care for individuals with physical disabilities, brain injuries, seniors, and veterans. Founded in 1978, the entity emerged to address a critical lack of independent housing options for adults with disabilities, offering an alternative to institutional nursing home care through accessible, affordable cooperative homes and apartments. The organization facilitates independent living by enabling residents to share service hours, ensuring supportive assistance is available around the clock.
Since its inception, the organization has expanded significantly from its initial five cooperative homes serving thirty residents in Minnesota to a nationwide presence. Today, Accessible Space Inc manages over 160 residential homes and apartment settings across 31 states. The organization currently supports more than 4,000 adults with physical disabilities and brain injuries, alongside seniors, through its comprehensive model of property management and supportive living services.
The core mission of the organization focuses on the development, management, and ownership of accessible housing, assisted living, and rehabilitation services. By maintaining this operational scope, Accessible Space Inc continues to deliver essential housing solutions that promote autonomy and dignity for vulnerable populations throughout the United States.
