The Service Development Director serves as a strategic liaison between the facility, referring professionals, and the broader community. This role is pivotal in implementing business and marketing plans designed to achieve the facility's objectives. The Director establishes strategic marketing initiatives, manages departmental operating budgets by territory, and leads the Service Development Representatives.
A core function of this position is conducting pre-admission screenings to determine admission eligibility. The Director gathers information from referral sources, meets with potential patients, and communicates prescreening results and recommendations to patients, families, and referral sources in accordance with company policy. For patients who do not meet the hospital's level of care requirements, the Director assists in identifying appropriate care alternatives.
Beyond clinical coordination, this role is deeply rooted in community development. The Director fosters positive relationships with community resources and networks to create a seamless continuum of care. The department actively promotes mental health prevention awareness, with the ultimate goal of improving overall community education regarding mental health needs. The Director also provides consultative and educational services throughout the month to support the team and the community.
This position operates within a smoke-free workplace that may present moderate to high noise levels. The environment can include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, cleaning chemicals, dust, and mist generated during housekeeping tasks. Employees may occasionally be exposed to Category II hazards, involving potential contact with blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
The role requires spending approximately 75% or more of the time indoors, protected from weather but not necessarily temperature changes. The environment is often hectic with frequent interruptions, which can contribute to stress. Employees must be prepared to service psychiatric patients in acute and crisis situations, requiring resilience and adaptability.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing or Business Development Experience with a focus on healthcare. Proven experience in marketing/sales/customer service and/or a clinical educator.
