Founded in 1896, Volunteers of America (VOA) is a non-profit organization spanning four states dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. Our mission extends to providing housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors, as well as offering care for individuals with developmental disabilities, restorative justice programs, and free HIV testing and education. While the term "volunteer" originally referred to anyone serving others as a vocation, today VOA is staffed by paid, mission-driven professionals committed to building thriving communities. Our culture is defined by flexibility, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose.
The Recovery Outreach Specialist serves as the vital first point of contact for clients and community partners, ensuring a smooth and supportive admission experience into our recovery programs. This role is more than administrative; it is a goal-driven position with a sales focus designed to inspire trust and build strong, lasting relationships. You will act as a bridge between the community and VOA, identifying needs, strengthening referral networks, and promoting our services to key stakeholders.
In this capacity, you will represent VOA professionally at outreach visits, presentations, and meetings, educating partners about addiction recovery services. Your day will involve maintaining persistent follow-ups with hospitals, courts, legal professionals, and social service agencies to generate qualified leads and optimize admissions. You will also coordinate closely with admissions and clinical teams to ensure timely access to services for clients with specific treatment needs. Success in this role requires a deep compassion for individuals facing behavioral health and substance use challenges, including those affected by Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS, while conveying respect to all target populations.
Candidates are invited to apply with a resume and cover letter detailing their relevant experience in community outreach, marketing, or behavioral health. The selection process typically involves an initial screening followed by interviews focused on relationship-building skills, cultural fit, and the ability to navigate complex referral networks.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
