The Service Center Customer Service Representative plays a vital role in the daily operations of the service center, serving as the primary point of contact for customer needs. This position ensures the smooth movement of freight by handling documentation, resolving inquiries, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires a blend of administrative precision and strong interpersonal skills to support both internal operations and external client satisfaction.
In this fast-paced environment, you will manage a variety of responsibilities ranging from processing freight documentation to assisting customers with complex logistics issues. Your day-to-day activities involve verifying and completing required reports, entering shipment data into computer systems, and generating or correcting freight bills. You will act as a problem solver, tracing shipments, providing rate quotes, and addressing billing discrepancies via phone, email, or fax.
The role also involves close collaboration with drivers and other departments. You will assist city operations by checking in drivers, coordinating drop-offs and collections, and reviewing Hours-of-Service logs to ensure compliance. Additionally, you will handle financial duties such as reconciling cash and checks, preparing deposits, and managing COD remittances. Success in this position requires the ability to work independently within a team, manage time effectively, and adapt to varying operational needs and deadlines.
