About the Role

The Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital serves as a vital bridge between clinical excellence and operational leadership. This unique position is designed for a veterinarian who thrives on both healing animals and empowering teams. The primary purpose is to manage the hospital while ensuring the highest quality of veterinary care, exceptional client service, and maximum productivity for the medical team.

You will advocate for pets and their quality of life, building long-term bonds with clients and fostering the human-pet connection. By partnering with the Practice Manager, you will operate an effective medical team, ensuring a safe and engaging hospital environment while driving improvements in both medical quality and business performance.

The role balances two distinct worlds: approximately 70-80% of your time will be dedicated to practicing veterinary medicine, performing diagnostics, surgeries, and providing direct patient care. The remaining 20-30% is focused on leadership duties, including mentoring associate veterinarians, developing staff, managing schedules, and collaborating with field leadership to execute market objectives. You will live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., championing the Banfield brand to deliver consistent, high-quality care to the most pets and clients possible.

Our Culture and Values

At Banfield, we are driven by the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., which guide every decision and interaction:

  • Quality: The consumer is our boss; quality is our work, and value for money is our goal.
  • Responsibility: We demand total responsibility from ourselves and support the responsibility of others.
  • Mutuality: A mutual benefit is a shared benefit; a shared benefit will endure.
  • Efficiency: We use resources to the full, waste nothing, and do only what we can do best.
  • Freedom: We need freedom to shape our future; we need profit to remain free.

We are a drug-free, smoke-free, equal opportunity employer that strongly supports and values the uniqueness of all individuals. We promote a work environment where diversity is embraced, ensuring all qualified applicants receive consideration without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, veteran status, or disability status.
