The Chief of Staff serves as the operational and clinical anchor of the hospital, balancing the dual mandate of delivering world-class veterinary care and driving business performance. This role is designed to advocate for pets and their quality of life while fostering long-term, trusting relationships with clients. By partnering with the Practice Manager, the Chief of Staff ensures a safe, engaging environment where the veterinary medical team can thrive, ultimately maximizing productivity and profitability.
The position is unique in its hybrid nature: approximately 70-80% of the time is dedicated to practicing veterinary medicine, while 20-30% is focused on leadership, team development, and operational strategy. The Chief of Staff acts as a role model for the Banfield brand, leading by example in client service, medical excellence, and adherence to the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. This includes mentoring Associate Veterinarians, resolving complex client issues, and identifying operational bottlenecks to ensure seamless hospital function.
At Banfield Pet Hospital, we are driven by the Five Principles: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom. These values guide every interaction, from the way we treat our clients to how we manage our resources. We believe that the consumer is our boss and that quality is our work. As a team, we demand total responsibility from ourselves while supporting the responsibility of others, ensuring that shared benefits endure.
We are a drug-free, smoke-free, equal opportunity employer that strongly supports and values the uniqueness of all individuals. We promote a work environment where diversity is embraced, and all qualified applicants receive consideration without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, veteran status, or disability status.
