The Chief of Staff at Banfield Pet Hospital serves as a vital bridge between clinical excellence and operational success. This unique position is designed for a veterinarian who thrives on both healing animals and leading teams. The primary purpose is to manage the hospital while ensuring the highest quality of veterinary care, exceptional client service, and maximum productivity for the medical team.
You will advocate for pets and their quality of life, building long-term bonds with clients and fostering the human-pet connection. By partnering with the Practice Manager, you will operate an effective medical team, ensuring a safe and engaging hospital environment while driving improvements in both medical quality and business performance.
The role balances clinical practice with leadership. On average, you will spend 70-80% of your time practicing veterinary medicine—performing diagnostics, surgeries, and preventive care—and 20-30% on leadership duties. These leadership responsibilities include mentoring associate veterinarians, developing staff, managing schedules, and collaborating with field leadership to execute market objectives. You will live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., championing the Banfield brand to provide consistent, high-quality care to the most pets and clients possible.
At Banfield, we are driven by the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., which guide our daily actions and decisions:

We promote a work environment where diversity is embraced, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, status as a protected veteran, or status as a qualified individual with a disability.
