The Chief of Staff serves as the operational and clinical anchor of the hospital, balancing the dual mandate of delivering world-class veterinary care and driving business performance. This role is pivotal in advocating for pets and their quality of life while fostering long-term bonds between clients and their animals. By partnering with the Practice Manager and Medical Director, the Chief of Staff ensures a safe, engaging environment where the veterinary medical team can thrive, delivering exceptional service to the highest number of pets and clients.
The position is unique in its hybrid nature, dedicating approximately 70-80% of time to hands-on veterinary practice and 20-30% to leadership duties. In the clinical capacity, the Chief of Staff leads the daily schedule, performs complex diagnostics and surgeries, and mentors associate veterinarians to realize their full professional potential. As a leader, they champion the Banfield brand, optimize hospital efficiency, and cultivate a culture rooted in the Five Principles of Mars, Inc.: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom.
