The Sheriff-Coroner Technology Division serves as the central nervous system for Orange County's public safety infrastructure. Comprising approximately 150 personnel across six specialized areas, the team provides critical operational and technical expertise to Law Enforcement, Fire Services, EMS, and various correctional and government facilities. The Division manages the countywide 800 MHz Coordinated Communications System (CCCS), 900 MHz paging, 9-1-1 dispatch equipment, and all Information Technology operations for the Sheriff's Department, ranging from network security to mobile data support.
As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of complex communications networks that keep first responders connected. This role goes beyond technical execution; it involves providing leadership and training for staff, supervising teams, and managing major projects that require coordination with vendors, consultants, and other agencies. You will act as the primary engineering consultant for county departments, reviewing system designs, approving specifications, and ensuring compliance with FCC and PUC regulations. The position demands a blend of deep technical knowledge in radio and data systems with strong project management and personnel development skills.
