The RF & Fiber Optic Network Technician serves as a critical link in maintaining the integrity of two-way radio systems and fiber optic infrastructure within remote, high-stakes environments. This position supports both RF communications platforms, including Motorola and Kenwood systems, and the broader fiber optic plant operations found inside and outside the facility. The role is designed for a candidate who thrives in both office and field settings, balancing independent problem-solving with collaborative team efforts to ensure seamless telecommunications services.
A defining aspect of this role is its location and operational scope. The technician must be based within a one-hour commute of either Grand Teton National Park or Yellowstone National Park. This proximity is essential for responding to emergency network outages and performing on-site maintenance in varying weather conditions, from construction sites to rooftops and confined spaces.
Your work will span a dynamic mix of technical diagnostics, physical installation, and customer support. You will spend significant time in the field installing, programming, and aligning two-way radio repeaters and accessories, as well as performing fiber optic splicing, testing, and underground cable locating. Whether you are troubleshooting audio and network issues on mobile radios or coordinating with contractors and local utilities for infrastructure upgrades, precision and safety are paramount.
The role requires adaptability; you may be conducting bench tests with spectrum analyzers one moment and climbing ladders to inspect outdoor equipment the next. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate service documentation, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with FCC regulations and company safety standards. Emergency response is a key component, with an expectation to address network outages within strict timeframes, often requiring availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass a federal background check and comply with drug-free workplace requirements. Upon hiring, you will be expected to obtain any necessary certifications required for the specific duties of the role.
