About the Role
This direct-entry exempt position serves as a vital link between complex tax regulations and Vistra's strategic business decisions. You will operate with a specialized knowledge of state income, federal income, and non-income tax laws, applying this expertise to support the company's financial integrity. The role exists to ensure that Vistra's tax positions are not only compliant but also strategically sound, providing the necessary documentation and analysis to support property tax challenges and development decisions.
In this capacity, you will partner with the tax controversy team, financial statement auditors, and various business units to navigate the intricate landscape of tax compliance. Your day-to-day will involve analyzing transaction facts, performing technical tax research, and monitoring legislative developments to interpret their implications for the company. You will be responsible for assisting in the identification and documentation of tax return positions, particularly regarding property tax and federal prevailing wage compliance, ensuring that every claim is duly supported.
Beyond technical execution, this role demands strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to deliver excellent client service to internal business units. You will be the go-to resource for responsiveness to questions and requests, interacting with staff and departments throughout the organization to drive clarity and efficiency.
