About the Role
This position is designed for an attorney who lives in complex individual income tax and enjoys structuring elegant solutions for business owners, investors, and family principals. You will lead sophisticated individual tax planning, quarterbacking matters that touch pass-through entities, closely held business interests, liquidity events, real estate holdings, and California residency planning. While estate planning experience is valuable for rounding out integrated, multi-year planning conversations, the primary focus remains on deep technical command of individual tax planning.
In this role, you will serve as the lead tax attorney on high-net-worth client relationships, delivering proactive, year-round service. You will collaborate with internal CPAs and external advisors, including wealth managers and investment bankers, to deliver coordinated solutions. The role requires drafting and executing transactional documentation to implement plans, from entity formations to deed transfers, ensuring every structure is implemented cleanly rather than just designed on paper.
What Success Looks Like
We want this person to hit the ground running and grow with the firm. In your first 45 days, you will get oriented by learning our systems, meeting colleagues, and developing a clear picture of your client portfolio. By day 90, you will begin leading client tax planning conversations and managing assigned engagements with growing independence. Within six months, you will own individual tax planning engagements end-to-end and manage matters on budget. By your first year, you will have established yourself as a trusted advisor on individual tax planning, contributing to integrated estate and business tax conversations while building out your second-year strategic plan.

Requirements
