The System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products' Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide our customers with critical needs. This role is based in Aurora, CO.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team. You will serve as a pivotal link between engineering disciplines, ensuring that safety and human factors are seamlessly integrated into complex systems from program startup through production, demilitarization, and disposal. Your work will directly support the elimination of hazards and the implementation of effective controls across integrated product teams.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with Program Management, government approval authorities, and various engineering functions including Systems, Software, Firmware, Electrical, and Hardware Engineering. You will manage System Safety Working Groups between key Raytheon and Customer representatives, interpreting system requirements and military standards to brief safety considerations at technical reviews. The role offers the unique challenge of working on Special Access Programs, requiring a high level of discretion and precision.
This position requires an active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance on day one. U.S. citizenship is mandatory as only citizens are eligible for this clearance level. The DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses (including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification task series) involving hardware and software safety. Experience with DoD System Safety Programs such as MIL-STD-882 or DO-178. Experience with presentation skills. Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development. Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration, specifically executing Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472. Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.
