The System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products' Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide our customers with critical needs. This role is based in Aurora, CO.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team. You will serve as a critical link between engineering disciplines and safety compliance, ensuring that complex systems are designed with safety and human factors at the forefront. Your work will directly impact the development of products that protect our nation and allies.
In this position, you will collaborate across integrated product teams and lines to eliminate hazards and provide effective controls. You will interface with Systems, Software, Electrical, and Hardware Engineering functions to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design. A key part of your day involves briefing safety considerations at technical reviews, managing System Safety Working Groups between Raytheon and customer representatives, and ensuring that safety approvals are gained from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities. You will also have the opportunity to work on Special Access Programs, contributing to the highest levels of national security.
This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400), including hardware and software safety related tasks. Experience with DoD System Safety Programs such as MIL-STD-882 or DO-178. Experience with presentation skills. Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material. Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development. Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472. Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, and System Safety Working Groups.
