This position is located at the Moody Outpatient Center on the 3rd Floor. As a Registered Nurse within Parkland's Oncology Services, you will serve as a licensed professional dedicated to coordinating patient care delivery for a specific population facing complex health conditions. Your work is grounded in the Parkland nursing professional practice model, utilizing the nursing process to assess patients, identify diagnoses, and implement individualized plans of care that minimize preventable complications.
In this role, you will act as a vital patient advocate, ensuring that patient needs, rights, and cultural preferences are respected throughout their journey. You will provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding cancer care, therapies, and side effects, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to navigate the healthcare system effectively. From managing triage to serving as a preceptor for newer staff, you will play a key part in maintaining the high standards of Oncology Services and supporting the overall mission of Parkland.
This is a full-time position operating on a 4-10 hour shift schedule (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM). The role requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, provide direction to non-nursing staff, and serve as a Charge Nurse on rotation. You will be expected to maintain a patient-centered approach, demonstrating effective communication with patients, families, and hospital staff, including the ability to communicate via overhead paging systems when necessary.
Candidates must possess a current, valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing (or a valid Compact RN license) and a current BLS certification. Additionally, successful candidates must obtain the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy certificate within six months of placement.
