About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as a technical lead within a multidisciplinary Architectural & Engineering environment, driving the design, coordination, and delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient mechanical building systems. This role is pivotal in translating project requirements into constructible solutions that meet client expectations and rigorous code standards.
You will collaborate closely with Architecture, Structural, Electrical, and Process engineering disciplines to ensure seamless system integration from conceptual design through construction administration. Your work directly impacts the efficiency, maintainability, and safety of commercial, industrial, and manufacturing facilities.
Day in the Life
Your day involves developing mechanical system concepts and performing detailed design calculations for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and ventilation systems. You will prepare critical engineering deliverables, including plans, sections, details, and specifications, while conducting heat load and hydronic sizing analyses.
A significant portion of your time is dedicated to cross-disciplinary coordination to resolve design conflicts and ensure system integration. You will also engage in Construction Administration activities, reviewing submittals, responding to contractor RFIs, and conducting site visits to verify existing conditions and validate installation requirements. Throughout the process, you will apply current building codes (IMC, IBC, ASHRAE) and provide technical insights to enhance project constructability and cost-effectiveness.
