The Data Architecture, Technology, and Analytics (DATA) section within the Federal Reserve Board's Division of Research & Statistics (R&S) is dedicated to transforming how the organization ingests, organizes, uses, and visualizes data. The team supports economists and technical experts by ensuring optimal data delivery architecture is designed and developed. The mission involves expanding and optimizing data and pipeline architecture to support economic policy and research initiatives, often requiring the re-design of existing systems to enable next-generation data capabilities.
This position seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Data Architect/Engineer who is passionate about improving existing data systems or building them from the ground up. The ideal candidate is a hands-on data modeler with a strong working knowledge of database design, administration, and data wrangling. You will serve as a self-directed partner to multiple teams, translating complex data requirements into high-performing technical solutions. The role demands a service mindset and the ability to collaborate with analysts, researchers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, secure, and structured to meet organizational needs.
This is a contract opportunity available on a W2 or 1099 basis (no C2C). Candidates must be local to the DC metro area and available for 100% onsite work in Washington, DC. Additionally, US citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience supporting analytics, research, or data-intensive business environments. Experience working in a research environment and/or with economic or financial data. Experience with NoSQL and graph database technologies. Experience developing, training, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models.
