The City of Santa Rosa is committed to building a workforce reflective of our community and establishing a lasting culture of equity and belonging. Our collective talents contribute to high-quality public services that support a vibrant, resilient, and inclusive City for our community and visitors. We celebrate a diverse workforce and welcome all qualified candidates to apply.
The Information Technology Department has an important mission: to provide secure and reliable technology and services to make government more efficient, equitable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community. While carrying out this mission, we remain focused on leveraging technology, information, and cross-departmental collaboration to modernize and transform City services. Our core values include innovation, collaboration, integrity, equity, inclusion, and an emphasis on results.
The Senior Information Technology Technician is a pivotal role within the Information Technology Department, specifically supporting the Security & Innovation division. This position provides Tier 2 level support primarily for the Water and Parking departments, working closely with IT Technicians and Network System Analysts to resolve complex issues. The role serves as a technical leader, providing advanced support, direction, and leadership to other technical staff.
In this fast-paced environment, you will act as a self-starter and multi-tasker, managing and creating user accounts, assigning permissions, troubleshooting server applications, and providing Active Directory support. You will also serve as a backup to the Tier 2 Helpdesk, answering customer support calls and resolving tickets. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills to explain technical solutions to non-technical users and thrives in a collaborative team setting.
The selection process begins with a careful review of applications and the supplemental questionnaire. Responses to these questions will be scored using criteria specific to this position; incomplete responses or generic answers such as "See Resume" may result in disqualification.
Candidates who demonstrate a strong match to the desired experience and qualifications will be invited to continue. The process includes a panel interview and may involve technical performance tests. First interviews are anticipated to be held in early June, followed by in-person technical skills testing in mid-June, with second interviews scheduled for the end of June.
To apply, please complete a thoughtful and thorough Application and Supplemental Questionnaire submission. For more information about this opportunity, please contact Alberto Sanchez, Human Resources Analyst, at asanchez@srcity.org.

We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
