The HIL Engineer will serve as a critical link between system design and validation within our automotive engineering team in Novi, Michigan. This role is dedicated to ensuring the reliability and safety of electric vehicle (EV) powertrain and control systems through rigorous Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. You will be responsible for developing the simulation models and automated test frameworks that verify the behavior of motors, inverters, drivelines, and braking systems before they reach the physical vehicle.
In this position, you will design and execute complex test cases covering torque delivery, regenerative braking, traction control, and various fault scenarios. Your work will involve injecting specific faults into sensors, actuators, networks, and thermal systems to validate the vehicle's safety response and diagnostic capabilities (UDS, DIDs, DTCs). A key part of your day will be collaborating with cross-functional teams in controls, systems, diagnostics, and safety to ensure that all testing aligns with ISO 26262 functional safety concepts and that traceability from requirements to test results is maintained.
