About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Center Network Engineer to lead the structured decommissioning of brownfield data center infrastructure. This is a critical, hands-on role designed for a professional with over 10 years of enterprise and data center networking experience who has personally executed device retirements rather than simply supervising them.
The right candidate will bring deep expertise in Cisco platforms and multi-vendor environments. Your mission is to ensure a seamless transition by conducting comprehensive network audits, designing traffic migration strategies, and executing the retirement of legacy routers, switches, and firewalls. You will be responsible for migrating legacy platforms (such as Catalyst 6500 and Brocade) to modern infrastructure (Nexus 7K/5K/2K) as part of broader consolidation efforts, while leading terminal server consolidation and streamlining out-of-band access methods.
Work Environment & Logistics
This is a contract position on a W2 basis. The role requires a hybrid work model with 3 days onsite in NYC; local candidates only.

Requirements

- verifiedPython scripting and/or Ansible
- verifiedNMS tools: SolarWinds, CiscoWorks

- verifiedF5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM experience a plus

Experience with Juniper MX/EX switches and routers. Experience with F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM. CCIE Data Center certification. PMP or ITIL Foundation certification.
