The Law Department at PG&E delivers timely, efficient, and business-focused legal services to the organization. The Law Gas & Electric Operations team specifically provides regulatory and transactional support across a broad spectrum of matters involving federal and state regulatory agencies. Our work primarily centers on energy operations, including transmission development, rates, electrification, decarbonization, wildfire safety, electric and gas safety, large load management, service planning, land rights, clean fuels, the transition of the natural gas system, and legislative initiatives.
This Attorney position serves as a strategic partner to the company, providing legal advice and representation for all aspects of operations involving state and federal regulations. You will be responsible for managing the company's legal agenda across various lines of business, ensuring comprehensive and strategic counsel on complex matters. The role involves selecting and managing outside counsel, overseeing project and budget management for legal matters, and acting as a subject matter expert in specialized areas.
As a hybrid role, you will work from both your remote office and an assigned work location in either the San Francisco Bay Area or Washington, D.C., based on business needs. You will report to the Managing Counsel of Law Gas & Electric Operations within the Law Utility Strategy and Operations team.

Law Bar admission in California. Registered In-House Counsel permit in California. Experience in complex legal matters. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Ability to apply legal terminology and laws relevant to the job. Ability to recognize the relationship of legal issues to the Company's strategic and other business imperatives. Competency in addressing difficult issues at all levels of the Company. Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications to convey clear understanding of unique needs of different audiences. Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
