As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department operates smoothly and safely. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Your work is essential to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, ensuring that patients receive accurate care and support every time they visit.
Your day involves a blend of clinical support, operational precision, and customer engagement. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. This includes retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, and checking for possible interactions.
Beyond the counter, you are a key part of the team's customer service efforts. You will greet customers, offer assistance with products and services, and resolve issues to ensure a positive experience. You may also assist with inventory management, handle cash registers, and process manual claims for third-party prescription services. In some locations, you might assist with clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and help coordinate with healthcare providers to enhance community health relationships.
We are committed to your professional development. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As you grow, you will attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments. PTCB certification is a condition for promotion to Senior Technician.
To join our team, you must meet the basic qualifications, including PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico) and one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician. We look for candidates who are fluent in English and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. If hired, you will be required to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days, unless covered by a collective bargaining agreement or working in specific pharmacy locations.
