About the Role
The Senior Administrative Analyst serves as the expert-level professional within the Mariposa County administrative series. This position is designed to provide high-level administrative and analytical support to deputy department heads and senior leadership, managing complex, specialized projects that drive the County's mission.
Unlike general administrative roles, this position requires focused expertise in specialized subject areas such as economic development, community development, grant administration, financial analysis, and housing issues. The incumbent acts as a strategic partner to upper management, gathering and interpreting data to develop options, make recommendations, and report on complex problems affecting the organization.
Day in the Life
You will operate with a high degree of independence, directing significant responsibilities that may include supervising multiple staff members. Your work involves coordinating activities across County management, staff, and the community, while representing the department in critical matters before the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator's Office, and various external agencies.
Key aspects of your daily work include:
- Strategic Leadership: Leading the development of new techniques, strategic plans, and policies to support goals such as affordable and fair housing.
- Financial Stewardship: Preparing and presenting the department's annual budget, analyzing revenue projections, and managing complex fiscal interfaces involving enterprise funds and federal/state grants.
- Community Engagement: Managing civic engagement activities, conducting outreach, and synthesizing community and business input to inform decision-making.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the Auditor's Office, state and federal agencies, and other public and private entities to secure funding and ensure compliance.
- Crisis Management: Serving as the Public Information Officer in the Emergency Operations Center during disasters when required.

To qualify for the Senior Administrative Analyst at Mariposa County position, applicants should have: Two years of full-time experience as an Administrative Analyst II with Mariposa County OR six years of increasingly responsible professional full-time equivalent experience in economic development, grants programs, human resources, budget development, financial analysis, or other professional field as may be needed in a local government environment AND a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, economics, human resources management, finance, planning, or a closely related field; and Possession of a valid California driver's license.
