About the Role
The Security Police Officer - EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) serves as a critical first responder at NASA facilities, blending law enforcement duties with immediate medical care. This position enforces federal, state, and local laws while conducting mobile patrols, traffic enforcement, and access control for NASA-owned buildings and property. Officers are responsible for protecting personnel, equipment, and material, conducting inspections, and initiating arrests when necessary.
This is an armed, union position designed to ensure the safety and security of the NASA installation. All positions begin as Part-Time, with the opportunity to bid on a full-time position once one becomes available. The role requires flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and holidays, and involves interacting with the public, government personnel, and NASA staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must be U.S. citizens at least 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED. A current Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification or greater through the State of Ohio, along with BLS/CPR certification, is mandatory. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a SECRET government security clearance. Those with an honorable discharge (if applicable) are eligible.
New hires must complete the NASA Federal Arrest Authority Basic Course within their first 90 days of employment. While preferred, candidates with one year of military or law enforcement experience, or a diploma from a recognized law enforcement or physical security training academy, are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
The estimated wage for this position is USD $30.47 per hour.
