About the Role

Security Officers at Essentia Health are the guardians of our medical campuses, protecting patients, staff, assets, and facilities. Your role is to patrol the healthcare environment to deter criminal activity, identify hazards, and prevent safety incidents. You will be the first line of response during emergencies, alarms, disasters, and threatening situations involving violent or combative persons. Additionally, you will enforce medical campus rules to maintain order and ensure that operations are not disrupted.

This position operates on a full-time schedule with a 4-on/4-off rotation, covering days from 06:00 to 19:00, including holidays and weekends as they fall on the rotation. The role is available at various locations including St. John's Medical Center (SJMC), Fargo, Detroit Lakes, and Duluth, with specific duties potentially including parking enforcement.

Hiring Process & Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must be at least 18 years of age and possess an active and valid Driver's License that meets the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health's insurer.

Upon hiring, successful candidates are expected to complete the following within the specified timeframes:

• Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers from the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (within 1 year).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (within 3 months).
• De-escalation training (within 5 months if no prior training or refresher within the past 3 years).
