The School Library Media Specialist at Whale Branch Elementary serves as a vital partner in the student-centered educational process. This role is dedicated to creating and maintaining a positive, stimulating environment that fosters a culture of learning. As the leader of the school library media program, you will provide essential instructional resources and coordinate the activities of support personnel, including assistants, technical staff, and volunteers.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with teachers, technology staff, and the school leadership team to select and evaluate resources that address curricular needs. Your day-to-day work involves assessing the information needs of students and staff, instructing them in the effective use of ideas and information, and integrating information literacy into daily instruction. You will also advocate for reading and lifelong learning while ensuring the library media center remains a flexible and accessible hub for the entire school community.
