About the Role
Helix Community Schools is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school, as well as to school-related events and activities. This position is vital to our mission of providing a supportive environment for students during their daily commute.
In this role, you will operate school buses in strict adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations. You will be responsible for managing designated routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals, while simultaneously monitoring student behavior to maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere on board. Your duties include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify that all safety equipment is functional and the vehicle is in good working condition.
You will serve as a key point of communication with the Transportation Manager, promptly reporting any issues regarding the bus, routes, or student conduct. Additionally, you will be prepared to handle emergencies by following established safety protocols and conducting required safety drills. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of student ridership and incidents, collaborating with school staff to support transportation needs for events, and participating in ongoing training to enhance driving skills and safety knowledge.
