This is a long-term onsite opportunity in Washington, DC, supporting the DC Government's Software Asset Management (SAM) environment. The role serves as a critical bridge between technical licensing data and business stakeholders, ensuring the government maintains compliance, optimizes costs, and effectively utilizes its software investments.
As a SAM Specialist and Business Analyst, you will manage the full software lifecycle—from licensing and purchasing to deployment and decommissioning. You will act as the primary expert for Microsoft licensing structures, including Enterprise Contracts, Volume License Management (MVL), O365 subscriptions, and Azure cloud products. Your work ensures that all software assets are accurately tracked, legally compliant, and aligned with the agency's financial and operational goals.
Your day involves analyzing purchase records and entitlement information across various portals to build accurate summaries of license entitlements. You will collaborate closely with Vendor Managers, Product Owners, and Engineers to normalize and manage licensed software assets. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to leading the reconciliation and presentation of Final License Position Reports, ensuring that software license records are correctly linked to hardware devices and reflected in the ITAM repository.
You will also support the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) by providing monthly and quarterly compliance status reports to Agency CIOs, managing software true-ups, and strategizing on the consolidation of Adobe and similar licensing. This role requires translating complex business needs into system requirements and guiding the normalization of customer purchase information to assure complete analysis.
This is an onsite position requiring an in-person interview. Candidates must be eligible to work via W2, C2C, or 1099 arrangements.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
