The vision of NOLA Public Schools is that every student receives a high-quality education that fosters their individual capabilities, ensuring they thrive, achieve physical and mental wellness, and are prepared for civic, social, and economic success. As the district's safety and security infrastructure grows, we seek dedicated professionals to protect our students, staff, and facilities.
The Safety and Security Manager serves as a critical partner to the Executive Director of Safety and Security, ensuring the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) properties remain safe and secure environments for learning. This role is essential for maintaining the physical integrity of our schools and responding effectively to the dynamic needs of a large urban district.
In this position, you will be the eyes and ears of the district, conducting routine inspections of vacant properties, schools, and athletic buses to identify and mitigate risks. Your day will involve investigating safety complaints, managing administrative requisitions, and maintaining the district's key cabinet. You will act as a solutions-oriented troubleshooter, addressing safety challenges before they escalate.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to crisis management. As a key member of the crisis management team, you will coordinate responses to exigencies and emergencies, ensuring clear communication within the district and with external stakeholders. You will also manage contracted security force details and serve as a response unit member for special needs within the district. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring safety violations and maintaining post directives assigned by Site Administrators.
Applicants must meet specific certification and experience requirements, including a POST certification and a valid Louisiana Driver's License. The selection process evaluates candidates based on their law enforcement background, ability to work flexible hours, and capacity to handle physical demands. Successful candidates will undergo a drug screening and be evaluated using district-specific instruments like COMPASS if they hold an Educational Leadership certification.
NOLA Public Schools is committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, genetic information, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, lawful alien status, national origin, age, marital status, non-job related physical or mental disability, or protected veteran status. We strive to build a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve.
