About the Role
This full-time position serves as a vital component of the Allegheny County Housing Authority's (ACHA) Public Safety Department, reporting directly to the Police Chief. The primary mission is to ensure the safety and security of persons and properties across ACHA's public housing developments. As a Police Officer, you will perform uniform patrols and conduct investigations, acting as a bridge between residents, staff, and the broader community.
The role operates within a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week environment, requiring flexibility to work shifts that include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with an on-call schedule. You will enforce Commonwealth of Pennsylvania laws and ACHA policies, including lease enforcement, while participating in crime prevention programs designed to serve residents. Success in this role demands the ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse social and economic backgrounds, manage stress, and maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local officials.

Candidates must possess a valid PA Municipal Police Officer Training (Act 120 Certification) and a minimum of one year of patrol experience with an assigned MPOETC card. The selection process includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screen, and background security review.
