Right-of-Way Consulting (ROWC) provides professional Railroad Flagman (RWIC) services, physically representing railroads and companies during construction activities. Our experienced staff and management team understand the critical value of safety and efficient train operations. We dispatch personnel across the country to serve our clients' interests, with a management team that continuously audits field staff to provide mentoring, training, and focused direction. This ensures our RWICs perform to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
This position is dedicated to performing on-site railroad roadway worker protection for both third-party and railroad activities on and around live tracks. You will be responsible for coordinating job sites, managing RTC/train communication, and implementing protections on both controlled and non-controlled tracks. Your role involves enforcing railroad safety rules and regulations on all personnel working on or visiting the site, with the authority to stop work immediately if contractors are not in compliance.
You will serve as a vital link in coordinating construction activities with railroad operations to ensure the safe and expedient movement of trains. The role requires daily job briefings with all personnel to ensure adherence to safety requirements. You will be equipped with proper PPE, base radios, and communication devices to maintain constant contact. This is a physically demanding role requiring walking or standing for extended periods and the ability to carry 20-80 pounds of equipment, such as signs, staffs, derails, and sledgehammers.

To be considered for this position, you must have at least 2 years of experience in the railroad industry (e.g., Maintenance-of-Way, Roadmasters, Signal Managers, Track Inspectors, Signal & Bridge Inspectors, RTC, Conductors). Do not apply if you have no railroad experience.
Successful candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as communication is a key component of this role. You must be able to travel and have reliable transportation. Employment is contingent upon passing a drug/alcohol test, a background check, a safety class, and on-site training and testing from a Right of Way instructor. All employees are e-Verifile background checked and e-Railsafe qualified. You will also be required to attend railroad rules classes annually to maintain eligibility.
