About the Role
We are currently hiring exceptional nurses for the Surgical 3B unit. This fast-paced medical-surgical telemetry floor features 32 patient beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 during both day and night shifts. The unit specializes in pre- and post-surgical care, with a specific focus on GI, Urology, and ENT surgeries.
In this role, you will utilize the Mercy Nursing Conceptual Framework and the nursing process to provide comprehensive patient care. You will maintain professional accountability for your assigned patients while coordinating care in conjunction with other departments. A key part of your mission is to uphold patient rights and ensure the confidentiality of all patient information.
The Surgical 3B unit offers a dynamic environment where you can learn and perfect critical nursing skills, including:
- Head-to-head assessments
- Telemetry monitoring
- Management of NG tubes, IV insertions, and CBI's
- Care for chest tubes, tracheostomies, and ostomies
- Drain management and wound care
Position Details
This position operates on a schedule that includes working three out of four weekends. The role requires physical demands such as pushing, pulling, and lifting 50 pounds regularly, as well as prolonged standing and walking. You must also possess the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform daily duties.
