The Cardiovascular Service Coordinator serves as a vital clinical leader within the Operating Room - CCT department, bridging the gap between strategic nursing initiatives and direct patient care. This role is designed to provide independent judgment and clinical expertise, ensuring high-quality outcomes for patients across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatric populations.
As a master teacher and preceptor, you will function as a unit educator, facilitating evidence-based research and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will lead by example, promoting a positive work environment while ensuring strict adherence to hospital and departmental policies. The position requires active participation in strategic initiatives such as Magnet Recognition, Joint Commission (TJC) compliance, and staff recruitment and retention.
Your day involves a dynamic blend of clinical leadership, direct patient care, and team development. You will assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients based on independent judgment and the plan of care, while simultaneously supervising the delivery of care on your designated shift. As a liaison, you will facilitate communication and problem-solving between physicians, staff, patients, and families, often managing crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
Beyond supervision, you will be deeply involved in the educational growth of your team, coordinating in-service training on new equipment and instruments, and assuming precepting responsibilities for new personnel. You will also champion patient safety by proactively identifying risks, reporting errors, and encouraging patients to actively participate in their own care. Whether administering IV medications, assisting with special tests, or maintaining a therapeutic environment, your role is central to the safety and efficiency of the cardiovascular unit.
