The Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg is a dedicated 12-bed unit designed for the immediate treatment of emergency medical and surgical conditions. Designated as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Texas Department of Health, our team is responsible for initiating life-saving procedures across a wide spectrum of emergencies, from chronic medical issues and minor injuries to critical trauma. With an average daily census of 60 patients, we handle frequent diagnoses including myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia, and various surgical conditions like appendicitis and hip fractures.
Our department is staffed with a medical provider available 24 hours a day and an Advanced Practitioner for 9 hours daily. Beyond clinical care, our staff is deeply committed to community engagement, providing education on disease processes and safety measures. We actively volunteer for local events such as "Wings over Texas" at the naval base and "Beach to Bay." Our team has earned the Silver Award from the American Heart Association for Stroke Care and has successfully implemented workflow changes to improve door-to-doctor times and the overall patient experience.
