About the Role
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is an 18-bed intermediate care unit committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model. We believe in caring relationships with our patients, families, community, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. This fast-paced, exciting, and evolving unit provides specialized medical and nursing care by a highly-trained staff utilizing the most current technology and equipment.
You will join a dedicated team of nurse leaders, interdisciplinary members, and physician partners. The unit serves patients aged 18 and older with neurological and medical diagnoses, including stroke, transient ischemic attack, seizure, syncope, encephalopathy, renal failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, and post-operative neurosurgical procedures. The environment is defined by a standard of care that includes vital signs taken at minimum every four hours, purposeful hourly rounding, and a focus on getting patients out of bed and ambulating whenever possible. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, allowing for focused attention on complex needs such as continuous telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and surgical site management.
