We are seeking an experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team and provide high-quality care to patients during the critical pre-operative and post-anesthesia recovery phases. This role is vital for ensuring patient safety and stability as they transition from surgical procedures to recovery.
In this position, you will utilize strong critical care skills and excellent clinical judgment to monitor and manage patients recovering from anesthesia. Your day-to-day will involve assessing and evaluating patient conditions, managing vital signs and airway status, and responding promptly to any post-operative complications. You will collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive care. Additionally, you will play a key role in educating patients and their families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions, ensuring a smooth transition home.
This is a contract position within a fast-paced surgical and recovery environment. The role requires flexibility to work variable shifts, including 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour schedules. Coverage may be needed for day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours. The assignment may involve working across multiple perioperative units, including the PACU and Ambulatory Surgery. On-call responsibilities may be required approximately three times per month, including overnight and weekend/holiday coverage. Please note that specific hours and shift preferences are not guaranteed.
To be considered for this assignment, candidates must possess an active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) License by the start date. All applicants must be prepared to complete all onboarding, credentialing, and employee health requirements prior to beginning work. Proof of influenza vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption is also required before the assignment starts.

PACU nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting. Critical Care, Emergency Room, or Surgical Nursing experience. NIHSS and/or TNCC certifications. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient monitoring skills. Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis Medication Dispensing System, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff Devices, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Bair Paws Warming System, Hewlett-Packard and Philips Patient Monitors.
