This position serves as an entry point into a comprehensive 9-month formal education program designed to transform new nurses into skilled Operating Room professionals. The role is dedicated to delivering safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care across the OR and perioperative services for all patient populations.
As an RN Operating Room In Training, you will facilitate operative and invasive procedures by preparing and providing the necessary sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. A key part of your day involves maintaining the sterile field and anticipating the dynamic needs of the surgical team. The program blends didactic learning, simulation, and virtual reality with hands-on practice in the RRMC surgical suite under direct guidance.
Your journey begins with formal training at an off-site simulation lab. As you progress, you will transition into specialty areas under the guidance of team leads. By the second month, you will begin taking call with your primary preceptor, with the goal of functioning independently in both scrub and circulator roles for routine cases across all services by the program's conclusion at 9 months.
