The Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department serves as the 24-hour leader for the overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This pivotal role is dedicated to fostering an environment of collaboration and respect among all healthcare team members while ensuring the highest standards of nursing care within the department.
In this position, you will oversee daily workflow, staffing, and the orientation and development of employees. You will partner with the Chief Nursing Officer and SVP of Nursing to establish care standards, interpret hospital policies, and drive quality improvement initiatives. The role requires a tactful approach to resolving complaints from patients, physicians, and staff, while maintaining a safe and caring environment that promotes equal access to treatment for all individuals regardless of background.
As a key member of the clinical leadership team, you will be responsible for the operational performance of the Emergency Department. This includes developing long-term staffing schedules, monitoring operational metrics such as agency and overtime costs, and maintaining a departmental dashboard to track progress in people, service, quality, and leadership. You will lead monthly staff meetings to address goals, objectives, and performance metrics, ensuring the team remains aligned with the hospital's mission of providing exceptional care.
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Nursing and a minimum of five years of nursing experience, including management or supervisory roles specifically within an Emergency Department. Experience with EPIC is required. The interview process will focus on leadership capabilities, clinical management knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex situations in a high-acuity environment.
