About the Team
University of New Mexico Hospital serves as the state's premier academic medical center, offering comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of specialties. Our Surgical Services Perioperative Program is the heart of our acute care capabilities, featuring the only Level 1 trauma operating room in New Mexico. The program includes the CCT Operating Room, a 24/7 educational facility with 18 rooms, a dedicated Pediatric Operating Room at the state's only children's hospital, and a specialized Eye Surgery Center.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDeliver safe direct nursing care to patients across all age groups in the operating room
- check_circleAssist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse patient developments
- check_circleParticipate in orientation and assume precepting responsibilities for new personnel
- check_circleMaintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families
- check_circleEnhance professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops
- check_circleReport potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses
- check_circleCollaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans
- check_circleAssist with special tests and procedures while ensuring proper consent is obtained
- check_circleAdminister medications including IVs via the Seven Rights and document clinical findings
- check_circleAnswer telephones and triage calls according to departmental policy
Requirements
- verifiedNationally Accredited Nursing Program Graduate
- verifiedLicensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement
- verifiedCPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers (must obtain within 30 days)
- verifiedObtain UNMH IV Verification within 6 months
- verifiedTuberculosis testing completed upon hire
Nice to Have
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing. Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo. Nationally Certified in area of specialty.
