University of New Mexico Hospital is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, serving as a critical hub for advanced surgical care across New Mexico. Our Surgical Services Perioperative Program encompasses a dynamic environment ranging from the high-volume, 24/7 CCT Operating Room to the specialized Pediatric Operating Room at the state's only children's hospital, and the dedicated Eye Surgery Center. We foster a culture of teamwork where patient safety is the absolute priority, requiring staff to be flexible and adaptable in a fluid, fast-paced setting.
We are seeking passionate Registered Nurses to join our immediate hiring initiative across all operating rooms and surgical services. Whether you are an experienced perioperative professional or a new graduate looking to launch your career, this role offers the opportunity to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients of all ages—from neonates to geriatric adults.
In the CCT OR, you will work in a busy, educational facility handling complex trauma cases. In our Pediatric OR, you will transform young lives through advanced surgical care in a supportive, family-centered environment alongside experienced surgeons and anesthesiologists. For those new to the field, our 6-month Surgical Services Peri-Op Program provides comprehensive training, including classroom didactics and on-the-job mentorship with preceptors, to prepare you for success in various service specialties.
We have immediate openings and are ready to move quickly. Simply apply to this posting, and a hiring manager will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and potential placement. We offer a self-scheduling program, allowing staff to manage their workdays and vacation time, with schedules typically consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week.
Our team is dedicated to excellence and professional growth. We encourage staff to actively participate in their own care and safety by questioning current policies and reporting potential risks. We value diversity and are particularly interested in candidates who are bilingual in English/Spanish or English with indigenous languages including Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo, to better serve our community.
