University of New Mexico Hospital is home to the only Level 1 trauma operating room in the state and the only children's hospital in New Mexico. Our Surgical Services Perioperative Program is a dynamic, educational facility where teamwork and patient safety are the top priorities. We operate in a busy, fluid environment that requires staff to be flexible and adapt to change in the moment.
Our teams include the CCT Operating Room, which features 18 rooms staffed 24/7; the Pediatric Operating Room, dedicated to transforming young lives through advanced surgical care in a family-centered environment; and the Eye Surgery Center. We are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatric adults.
We are seeking passionate Registered Nurses to join our immediate hiring initiative across all Operating Rooms and the Surgical Services Perioperative Program. Whether you are an experienced professional or a new graduate, there is a place for you here.
For those new to the field, our Surgical Services Peri-Op Program offers a comprehensive 6-month training pathway. This program combines classroom didactics with on-the-job training under preceptors, covering equipment, supplies, and processes across various specialties. Upon completion, you will work with the OR Manager to select your schedule.
In the Pediatric Operating Room, you will serve as a key member of a specialized team, delivering care to infants, children, and adolescents alongside experienced surgeons and anesthesiologists. We offer comprehensive training for those transitioning into pediatric perioperative nursing, allowing you to make a lasting impact during critical moments in a child's life.
Our staff work a 3x 12-hour shift schedule (day, evening, or night) and utilize a self-scheduling program for workdays and vacation time. The role involves providing direct nursing care, collaborating on care plans, assisting with special procedures, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
We have immediate openings and value your time. Simply apply, and a hiring manager will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and potential placement.
We offer a supportive culture with competitive compensation, including shift differentials (17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days). We also provide sign-on bonuses and relocation assistance. Our team is dedicated to professional growth through educational programs, in-services, and workshops.
