University of New Mexico Hospital serves as the state's premier medical center, offering a comprehensive range of surgical services. Our Operating Room and Surgical Services Perioperative Program is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care through a culture of teamwork and safety. We are the only Level 1 trauma operating room in the state, providing a dynamic environment where staff must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a busy, fluid clinical setting.
Our Pediatric Operating Room is located within the only children's hospital in New Mexico. Here, we transform young lives through advanced surgical care in a supportive, family-centered environment. Our team consists of passionate nurses working alongside experienced surgeons and anesthesiologists who share a commitment to excellence in pediatric care.
We also operate a specialized Eye Surgery Center and a robust Surgical Services Peri-Op Program designed to nurture talent and expand our capabilities.
As a Registered Nurse in our Operating Rooms, you will provide direct nursing care to patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatric patients. You will serve as a clinical leader, promoting a positive work environment and ensuring adherence to hospital policies while assisting with special tests, procedures, and emergency measures.
In the CCT OR, you will work in a 24/7 educational facility where every shift contributes to critical trauma and surgical care. Our Pediatric OR offers a unique opportunity to bring your clinical expertise and nurturing spirit to the most critical moments in a child's life.
For those new to the field, our 6-month Surgical Services Peri-Op Program provides comprehensive training. This program includes classroom didactics and on-the-job training with preceptors across different service specialties. You will learn about specific equipment, supplies, and processes before transitioning to a self-scheduled role with the OR Manager.
We have immediate openings across our ORs and Surgical Services. To apply, simply submit your application, and a hiring manager will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and potential placement.
We offer a competitive compensation package including shift differentials (17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days), sign-on bonuses, and relocation assistance. Our staff enjoy a self-scheduling program for workdays and vacation time, along with a 3x 12-hour shift structure. We are committed to professional growth through continuous education, in-services, and workshops.
