This position is located onsite at the UCHealth Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion in Aurora, Colorado, within the Med Surg Progressive Care department. You will provide top-of-scope practice in direct patient care within a technically complex Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The role prioritizes wellness, a patient perspective, and evidence-based practice while modeling proficiency through precepting those new to healthcare.
You will value a multidisciplinary team approach to achieve exceptional outcomes and contribute to secure safety and quality at the point of care. The environment is fast-paced and innovative, welcoming new knowledge and continuous learning. This is a full-time role requiring a day and night rotation schedule.
For experienced nurses new to Critical Care, we offer a four-phased orientation based on AACN's ECCO® (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation) resources. This program includes simulation-based innovation, blocked learning in a multi-system approach, and usage of an electronic orientation tracker with knowledge verification at each stage. The program pivots on novice-to-expert theory and adult learning styles to support critical care competency. Clinical Educators support and guide individualized specialty education and training for competency validation throughout clinical orientation, utilizing AACN's Synergy Model and various specialty certification standards.
