This position serves as a vital link in the patient care continuum within the Patient Line RN Triage department. The Registered Nurse receives and responds to consumer calls for health care assistance, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with the organization's scope, standards, policies, values, and mission. The role requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to assess symptoms, determine acuity, and develop patient care plans with minimal supervision.
In this fast-paced environment, you will provide professional advice, education, and options based on clinical judgment and established protocols. The role involves contacting emergency response services when necessary, providing referrals to healthcare providers and community resources, and assisting callers with scheduling appointments. Documentation of calls, responses, and referrals is essential, as is performing follow-up calls to evaluate the effectiveness of care and the need for additional support.
