The Risk Engineer II, Equipment Breakdown serves as a critical bridge between technical safety compliance and business risk management. In this position, you will perform comprehensive risk evaluations to determine the adequacy of controls, the likelihood of loss, and the overall insurability of client assets. Your work directly supports underwriters by providing detailed risk assessment documentation and loss estimates that inform premium assignments.
A core component of this role involves conducting boiler and pressure vessel inspections in strict accordance with jurisdictional rules. You will perform thorough examinations to identify hazardous conditions, apply relevant codes and standards, and recommend corrective actions. Beyond the technical inspection, you will act as a trusted advisor, explaining to customers how these recommendations impact their operations and guiding them through appropriate courses of action.
The role also encompasses claims investigations, where you will evaluate accident elements, verify damage extent, review invoices, and determine the cause of loss. You will provide risk improvement services by identifying exposures with significant loss potential and evaluating preventative maintenance management programs. Additionally, you will support Chubb's global consultancy by sourcing and delivering sustained service offerings to assist clients.
Qualified candidates will be evaluated on their technical proficiency with industrial, mechanical, and electrical equipment, as well as their ability to deliver consultative, client-centric solutions. The selection process will assess your experience in inspecting boilers and pressure vessels, your proficiency in writing and presenting safety-related topics, and your interpersonal skills in negotiating and interacting with a wide variety of customers.
This position is based in the Kansas City area.
