About the Role
As a Shortage Control Associate, you are the first line of defense in creating a secure and welcoming shopping environment. Your presence at store entrances and exits directly impacts the overall customer experience by mitigating theft and fostering a sense of safety. You will serve as a vital partner to store leadership, using your knowledge of theft trends and shortage reduction programs to protect assets while maintaining a positive atmosphere for every shopper.
Day in the Life
Your shift begins with a commitment to "command presence." You will stand vigilant at the front of the store, maintaining a professional appearance and a high level of situational awareness. Every interaction is an opportunity to set the tone for the visit; you will greet every customer and associate entering or exiting with a warm smile, eye contact, and a friendly, energetic welcome.
Throughout the day, you will actively monitor the environment to identify and report suspicious activities or theft incidents to the Manager on Duty. This role requires you to conduct bag and package checks on associates to ensure adherence to safety standards and to communicate theft prevention strategies during store rallies. You will also play a key role in training colleagues on shortage reduction processes, modeling safety as a top priority, and addressing any unsafe practices immediately.
