The RT Vent Field Clinician is a specialized Respiratory Therapist dedicated to delivering optimal care to patients requiring ventilator support. Operating within AdaptHealth's network, this role extends respiratory services to alternate care sites, ensuring a comprehensive approach that encompasses preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative needs. The position serves as a critical bridge between the patient, their family, physicians, and referral sources, utilizing agency and community resources to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes.
In this capacity, you will not only provide direct clinical care but also act as an educator and advocate. You will be responsible for evaluating ventilator records, ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions and care plans, and guiding patients and caregivers through complex transitions to home settings. The role demands a high level of clinical expertise in ventilator management, airway clearance, and oxygen therapy, alongside the ability to troubleshoot equipment and interpret compliance data to make informed decisions for patient care.
Your day will be a dynamic mix of clinical assessments, patient education, and collaborative communication. You will visit patients in their homes or alternate sites to perform clinical evaluations, set up and monitor ventilator equipment, and ensure all care plans are current and accurate. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to documentation, ensuring that every intervention, side effect, and patient response is recorded in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
You will frequently engage with physicians and referral sources to discuss patient status, coordinate discharge planning for highly technical cases, and provide in-services to hospital staff regarding equipment and clinical issues. The role requires flexibility, as you may be called upon to handle on-call responsibilities outside of normal business hours and navigate varying environments, from home settings to office coordination. Success in this role relies on your ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and maintain a proactive, team-oriented approach to resolving patient care issues.
