The Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support is a specialized clinical role dedicated to delivering optimal respiratory care to patients requiring ventilator support. Operating within AdaptHealth's network, this position extends care beyond traditional hospital settings to alternate sites, ensuring patients receive preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative services in their home environments.
This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical expertise and patient outcomes. You will utilize agency and community resources to manage complex ventilator cases, overseeing everything from initial set-ups to long-term compliance and discharge planning. The position demands a high level of autonomy, requiring you to evaluate patient records, troubleshoot equipment, and make data-driven decisions to ensure safety and efficacy.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of clinical assessments, patient education, and cross-functional collaboration. You will visit patients to perform clinical evaluations, verify equipment functionality, and ensure care plans remain accurate and up-to-date. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to communication; you will coordinate closely with physicians, referral sources, and families to address care issues promptly and facilitate smooth transitions between care settings.
Beyond direct patient care, you will act as a resource for hospital staff and other professionals, conducting in-services on equipment and clinical best practices. You will also manage documentation rigorously, ensuring all patient interactions, interventions, and compliance data are accurately recorded to support reimbursement and outcome tracking. The role may require on-call availability to handle urgent patient needs outside of standard business hours.
